During the procedure, we use targeted numbing so you won’t feel pain. Once it wears off, you might feel a bit sore for a few days, depending on how tough the extraction was and how you care for it.
Usually, tightness or mild discomfort lasts about 1 to 3 days. If your tooth was fully impacted or required a complex surgery, it might take a little longer to fully heal.
Once the numbness wears off (usually 2-4 hours), you can have soft, cool foods like soup or yogurt. Avoid hot, spicy, or hard foods, and do not use a straw for the first 24 hours.
Stay away from hard or spicy food, alcohol, and smoking. Don’t spit forcefully, and don’t rinse your mouth with salt water too early unless your dentist tells you to.
